It does not matter that you do not live in the UK. It does not matter that you do not know anyone in the UK to shop for you. It does not matter that you don’t even know how to shop or where to start. I wanted to put this article together to advise you about shopping in the UK. The world is truly now a global village due to technology such as the internet and Google, putting information right at our fingertips. If you are looking for how to shop in the UK offline, we have a service for that called SHOP4ME.
Here are the steps to shopping online from the UK. I am assuming you already know what you are looking for and how to find it. We have prepared an extensive list and introduction of UK online stores in our UK Store Directory. I hope this will help you start.
1. A VALID UK ADDRESS
Online shops will have to post your shopping to you. Mostly, these shops do not post outside of the UK; so you will need a valid UK address. MyUKCart provides a free valid UK address immediately after you register and you can use that address immediately. An example of the address is:
Line 1: 18 Maurice Road Industrial Estate Line 2:Â Suite TH12345 Town: Wallsend City: Newcastle-Upon-Tyne County: Tyne and Wear PostCode: NE2 6BB
You can find your address in the initial email we send to you after you register. You can also find it when you log in to your MyUKart account and click on MyUK Suite Address.
2. UK CONTACT NUMBER
In order for the shop to call you in case there are any delivery or stock issues, it is a good idea to provide a number they can reach you on. Since you are not in the UK, MyUKCart also provides you a number to provide during your shopping. If they should call, we will answer and speak to them on your behalf and help make sure you get the message and your shopping gets delivered to your UK address safely.
You can also find the number in both the initial email and in your MyUK Suite Address.
3. DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD
In order to pay for your shopping online, you will need a debit or credit card. Most online shops accept other means of payment, like PayPal, Skrill, AndroidPay and ApplePay. The Visa or MasterCard cards are very likely to be accepted when you use them online in UK shops. I must remind you, out of security and to avoid your details being sniffed away, to enter your card details only on secure (HTTPS) websites. If you are not sure, please contact us so we can help you with this.
If your card is not accepted for one or the other reasons, you could use our SHOP4ME service so we end up buying the items for you on your behalf.
4. AN EMAIL ADDRESS
You will also need to provide an email address as this is how the shop will send you confirmation of your shopping after you have checked out. This is normally your receipt. They will normally send you updates on the shopping with regards to shipping and delivery.
5. RELEASE YOUR ORDER TO YOUR HOME ADDRESS
With MyUKCart, once the shop ships your shopping to your UK Address, we log it into your suite so you can log in later and confirm. When you are ready, you can ask us to forward/release them to you. The process is very easy and straight-forward but help is always at hand if you need it.
Yes! That’s all. It is that easy. I hope this helps clarify and simplify what you need in order to shop from the UK.
